Scholarship application

There will be two scholarships this year, both remembering our beloved friends and colleagues Reinette van Zijtveld-Lustig and Tobias Hug.

Tobias Hug was an outstanding bass singer, beat-boxer and for many years a member of the renowned ‚Swingle Singers‘. He travelled the world with his fine artistry and co-founded many festivals: His legacy is the Black Forest Voices Festival in his hometown Kirchzarten. Tobi was a friend of New York Voices and performed with them at numerous occasions: His last live performance and workshop activity was during the first New York Voices Camp in Marktoberdorf 2019. We want to remember Tobi and honor his impact on the jazz vocal and a cappella scene with this scholarship. The scholarship is donated by the Black Forest Voices Festival, The Swingles, Nina Ruckhaber, Anika Neipp and Anne Czichowsky.

Reinette Lustig was an outstanding and heart-warming jazz singer as well as a vocal jazz educator who had a huge impact on so many generations of young singers. She was teaching at the Universities of Music Nürnberg and Würzburg and gave masterclasses all around the country and abroad. She also cooperated with international figures of the vocal scene like Bob Stoloff, Michele Weir and the New York Voices and was a co-founder of the Vocal Group „Vokal Total“ with Matthias Becker. We want to remember Reinette and honor her impact on the jazz vocal scene with this scholarship. The scholarship is donated by Kim Nazarian, Esther Kaiser, Fola Dada, Sonja Felkel, Andrea Vernier (Sing Jazz Berlin), Andrea Knorn, Angelika Bast, Ute Fischer-Kramps and Petra Packeiser.

Scholarship application for the New York Voices Int. Vocal Jazz Camp is now open. Everyone and of course also the campers that already registered can apply for a scholarship for the camp. The scholarship panel consists of NYVoices, Camp Faculty and Staff. All scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the scholarship panel. The scholarships cover the full tuition fee. The costs for travel & accomodation have to be covered by the scholarship winners. All scholarships are awarded by the panel on the basis of applicant talent, potential, and need.
